Redcoon's adventure may have come to an end, at least as it has been known in recent years.
The German company, acquired in 2011 by the Media Markt group (in turn part of the third largest distribution group in the world, Withro AG) and which manages the Media World electronics chain in Italy, seems to have reached a decisive turning point.
From the beginning, the coexistence between the online store and the chain's physical locations has been problematic, with retailers viewing the intense internal competition with dismay.
At the moment, the Italian website Redcoon.it and the shop on eBay are closed, with a clear message on the Italian homepage declaring: "IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR CUSTOMERS: As of 28/06/2017, the website www.redcoon.it is no longer accessible.
For any questions regarding product warranty, damage or refunds, please contact Customer Service via the following email addresses."

Currently, the Italian site has been closed, as it had exclusively used Media World's Italian logistics for the last year.
In the meantime, the site is still active in Germany and Poland, although the recent strategic decisions adopted to try to resolve the situation could have an impact.
Last April, Media Markt announced the closure of Redcoon's online stores in Austria, Spain, Portugal and the Benelux countries.
The main reason was the decline in sales recorded by Redcoon in 2016, when in Germany alone the turnover decreased from 403 to 338 million euros compared to 2015, a loss of 55 million euros.
Furthermore, it appears that Media Markt is trying to reverse its 2011 takeover, demanding €300 million from Redcoon's previous owners Reiner Heckel, Johannes Majdic and Jürgen Bartsch.
The German company claims there have been violations of competition laws but it will be difficult to prove this.
